Kae’s Story

KaeMomIn 2007, my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s after eight years of increasing cognitive impairment. My life really became a tsunami of change when I was thrust into the role of Mom’s full-time caregiver. I didn’t know where to begin. I kept running down a lot of alleys; some were blind, while others were confusing with many twists and turns and detours and for way too long, I still faced a blank slate.

I was unable to catch my breath; I kept looking for “The Formula” solution, but reality eventually set in: It simply didn’t exist. I’ve endured frustrating, painful and expensive lessons through much trial and error during the past few years. One prime example is the well-intentioned misinformation I received from four sources when applying for Veteran’s Administration Aids and Assistance that cost us over $35,000 in lost funds!

I have researched extensively, on and offline, no less than 500 hours, and I have yet to find the definitive, aggregated or single information resource to confidently walk someone through this ordeal. I have, however, encountered many others desperate for a direction, a pathway, a plan of action or guide to relieve the anxiety of the “unknown”. ALZ LIFE MATTERS was created to provide you with peace of mind to replace the misspent time and money associated with the incredibly complex challenge people face when a loved one is diagnosed ALZ or Dementia.

The journey as caregiver/partner is a thousand times more challenging than anyone can ever envision, so taking the hand of someone who has been through it will be the blessing you need and the gift you deserve. I attempted to juggle countless unbalanced balls of demands, all at once, and I know you are doing the same, so let me assist you with the journey, because your life matters, too.
