Caregiver Matters 101 Workshop– May 17, 2010

May 5th, 2010

When I arrived to visit my mother last night and tuck her into bed, she grabbed my arm quickly and in a hushed voice said, “Keep your voice down so they don’t hear you and you’ll be safe.” “They” were the trio of evil people in the house mom was certain were going to murder her, me and the other two residents. I had walked into the middle of a major hallucinatory episode and it took me close to one hour to release her of this fear and then hug and kiss her to sleep. From previous experience with mom and her hallucinations, I was at least able to work with her successfully and keep her from causing challenges for the other residents and the resident caregivers.

Are you struggling with them matters like this? Or perhaps combativeness, sundowner’s, shadowing or any number of other behaviors that you don’t understand? There really are tips, aids and tools you can benefit from using that will make your daily caregiving easier for you and many of the tools you’ll learn about will make life better for your loved one, too. Your specific issues and questions will be addressed, too, during this fast-paced 2-hour workshop.

Join me on Monday, May 17th from 1 to 3pm for insights into the disease and tips to becoming a master at surviving this insidious disease.

I was a 24/7 caregiver to both my parents, Dad developed dementia as the result of surgery complications and Mom has Alzheimer’s so I know just how full and demanding your life is and that’s exactly why I am inviting you to participate in our 2-hour workshop–to help you save time, energy and money–in your on-going role as caregiver dealing with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

There really are tips, aids and tools you can benefit from using that will make your daily caregiving easier for you and many of the tools you’ll learn about will make life better for your loved one, too.

Are you confounded by Sundowner’s every afternoon?  Does your loved one want to “go home” all the time?  Are you struggling with them still wanting to drive?  Has combative behavior entered the picture?  These and many other issues will be covered in detail during this fast-paced 2-hour workshop.  Your specific issues and questions will be addressed.

Please give yourself the gift of information and knowledge by attending our Caregiver Matters 101 workshop on Monday, April 26th or Wednesday, April 28th; both workshops are from 1 to 3 pm and are held at the Center for Spiritual Living in Palm Desert.  The program is $50/pp and we accept all credit cards.
